Rebuilding a Strong and Safe Home After a Wildfire

Our Survivor Journey

This is our story of survivors who lost our home to 2017 Tubbs wildfire, and our journey to rebuild a concrete house that stands strong against future disasters.

The recovery is a long journey. We did not want to go through that again. No way we rebuild a burnable house! For us, a concrete house was the best choice, but it wasn’t the easiest task.

After a litigation, we decided to rebuild it ourselves: we learned each job. It was a full-time job, but we made no compromise.

At the time of our project, there were not a lot of resources about the panels. We had to figure out everything ourselves and create our own guidelines. Our techniques surprised contractors, inspectors, structural engineers, and even the architect of the manufacturer.
